Replace TrackBall on Blackberry 8830
Is the trackball on you Blackberry 8800 not working as well as it should? Is it really dirty and you want to replace it? This guide will help you replace the trackball on your blackberry 8800, 8820 and 8830. It is a really easy procedure and you can pick up the blackberry trackball assembly from eBay. 1. Take a credit card, guitar pick or your fingernail, and pry up on the trackball ring as shown.
2.Pry up on the other end of the trackball ring as shown.
3.Remove the track ball ring.
4.The trackball assembly is now exposed and ready to be removed.
5.Remove the trackball assembly so that you have the circuit board exposed as shown. To remove the blackberry 8800 trackball assembly, simply flip the phone over and it will drop out. Make sure you have your hand under it to catch it so it doesn’t fall on the ground and get lost. It is very small.
If needed, clean the area under the trackball using a Q-tip and IPA alcohol.
6.Take the new 8830 trackball and install it as shown. It should fit easily into the opening.
7.It should look like this after it is installed.
8.Now it is time to install the blackberry trackball ring.
9.Place the ring as shown in the picture. Insure that the clips are facing away from the display.
10.Snap the ring into place with your finger as shown.
11.You have now finished the trackball replacement section. Power up you phone and check to see if the trackball functions properly
